In "A Letter to You, from 3 Years Ago", Henriquez communicates her darkest feelings through a letter to a close friend who committed suicide in 2020. The work deals with themes of guilt, depression, and suicidal ideation coupled with existentialist fear. The video is arranged as if it was actually being typed on a sheet of paper, complete with clips, GIFs, and stickers to emulate a diaristic entry. The idea is that this letter was never intended for the recipient to receive, as the grief being discussed is something buried deep. Thus, instead of being written formally, it uses a string of thoughts to communicate the chaos in the artist’s mental state. While she attempts to speak her innermost thoughts, there is also a critical side still living inside her mind expressed through a smaller, different font. There is also a hesitation to speak about the elephant in the room: death.
